Homeschooling on the Road-Pikes Peak

Forgot to add some of the other lessons we learned while hiking Pike’s Peak.  These were the lessons the kids wanted me to share.

So, what did we learn today (other than some fascinating history about Pike’s Peak)?

I did it!

I did it!

My eight year old learned that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and that when she puts her “I can’t do it” attitude away and puts her mind to it, she can do even those things which seem impossible!

Day One–Colorado Springs

We started out with a plan to tackle Pike’s Peak the easy way—via train. But, when we arrived to discover that the next available train would not leave for 2 hours, we decided to take a hike—straight up!

My husband and I decided to take our kids on a road trip this year to give them an up close look at the history and beauty of the west. We plan to cover ground from Colorado to Wyoming to Idaho to Utah to Arizona and finally California. See all of the posts about the trip here.
